STAVROS STAVROU

 

Stavros Stavrou was born in Nicosia in 1988. He holds a BA degree in Modern Greek and Byzantine Studies from King’s College London, as well as an MA degree in Cultural and Creative Industries from the same university.

 

He works as a professional lyrics-writer for both the music and theatre industries in Greece and Cyprus. In the music industry he has collaborated with the biggest names in both countries, including singers and composers like Mimis Plessas, Stamatis Kraounakis, Alkistis Protopsalti, Michalis Hatzigiannis, Tania Tsakanlidou, Yiannis Kotsiras, Eleonora Zouganeli, Kostas Makedonas, Lavrentis Machairitsas, Dimitris Mpasis, Glykeria, Eleni Vitali, Dimitra Galani, Kostas Hatzis, Babis Stokas, Eleni Tsaligopoulou, Stavros Siolas, Onirama, Evridiki, Christos Dantis, Aphrodite Manou, Helena Paparizou, Despina Vandi, Peggy Zina, Tamta and others.

 

In the theatre industry he has worked with the National Theatre of Greece, the Cyprus State Theatre, as well as many independent theatres and theatre groups in both countries. He mostly works on musical theatre, as well as on theatre for children and young audiences. In 2014, the children’s musical “Gourouniasmata”, for which he wrote the lyrics, won the prize for “Best show for young audiences” in the Cyprus Theatre Awards.

 

He is the secretary of the board of management of the Association for the welfare of people with mental handicap in Cyprus. He is also a member of the board of the Stelios Pissis Music Foundation, a foundation which uses music to help individuals in need.

 

He is also the founder of Assitej Cyprus.
