Lena Kasiou has been involved in music, theatre, and dance from a young age, building a long-standing career that also includes television, where she presented children’s musical and educational programmes such as “Paidika Hamogela” (“Children’s Smiles”). She studied Music at Royal Holloway, University of London (Bachelor’s Degree in Music) and continued her studies in Los Angeles, where she graduated from the intensive programme of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Hollywood, while also receiving a scholarship to the Lee Strasberg Institute. She completed her academic studies in London with a Master’s Degree in Advanced Theatre Practice from the Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London.
She has worked in theatre productions in Los Angeles, London, and Cyprus as an actress, musician, and creator. More recently, she participated in projects by the group Sezon Gynaikes, such as “Her Stories” and “A Thousand Ships” at the British Museum. She is the founder and coordinator of the children’s creative development initiative Open Minds Workshops and a member of the theatre group Open Arts.
Since 2015, as a co-creator, performer, and musician/composer, she has developed the first baby theatre in Cyprus for ages 0–24 months, with original productions such as “Bloom!”, “#pantababy”, and “Patito”, as well as interactive performances for the whole family. In 2021, she participated as a creator, composer, and puppeteer in the Cyprus Theatre Organisation (THOC) project “Little Musical Stories” with the film “Bubble”, while her short film “Tellin and Gary” received an honorary distinction at the Bristol Puppet Film Challenge. Since 2022, she has been Head of the Theatre Department at The English School in Nicosia.
Since 2024, she has been a member of the Board of the Cyprus Centre of Theatre for Children and Young People – ASSITEJ Cyprus and part of the artistic curatorial team of the Mitsikouri Festival. She continues to create and collaborate on initiatives that promote the creative and cultural development of children.
