STAVROS STAVROU  President

Stavros Stavrou is a cultural manager, producer of cultural initiatives, and lyricist with extensive experience in the field of performing arts and cultural policy.

He was born in Nicosia in 1988 and is a graduate of King’s College London, where he completed postgraduate studies in Cultural and Creative Industries with distinction, as well as undergraduate studies in Modern Greek and Byzantine Studies with first-class honours.

Since 2021, he has been serving as President of the Cyprus Centre of Theatre for Children and Young People – ASSITEJ Cyprus, and since 2024, he has been a member of the Executive Committee of ASSITEJ International. He is also the Artistic Director of the Mitsikouri International Performing Arts Festival for Children and Young People, organised by ASSITEJ Cyprus.

In 2025, he also took on the role of Production Director for the Opening Ceremony of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union. He is the founder and General Director of HUMART, a production and cultural management company, and has been active since 2007 as a writer and lyricist in theatre and music. The production “STILL! – A Statue That Travelled the World,” for which he is responsible for dramaturgy and production, has toured in nine countries to date and continues its international journey.

At the same time, Stavros Stavrou actively participates in international and local cultural networks, serving on the boards of organisations such as the International Inclusive Arts Network (IIAN), the Cyprus Centre of the International Theatre Institute (ITI), and the Stelios Pissis Music Foundation. He is also President of the Board of the Association for the Welfare of People with Intellectual Disabilities (SEANA).

He has also authored books and cultural publications and was nominated for the Man of the Year Awards 2023 in the Culture category. He is actively engaged in developing international collaborations and promoting theatre for children and young people, contributing to the connection of Cypriot cultural creation with European and international cultural networks.
