ASSITEJ INTERNATIONAL

ASSITEJ International was founded in 1965. ASSITEJ unites theatres, organisations and individuals throughout the world who make theatre* for children and young people. ASSITEJ is dedicated to the artistic, cultural and educational rights of children and young people across the globe and advocates on behalf of all children regardless of nationality, cultural identity, ability, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or religion. ASSITEJ brings people together so that they can share knowledge and practice within the field of theatre for children and young people in order to deepen understandings, develop practice, create new opportunities and strengthen the global sector. The members of ASSITEJ are national centres, professional networks, and individuals from around 100 countries across the world.

* The term theatre is used in its broadest sense to mean the performing arts for young audiences encompassing dance, puppetry and visual mediums, live art as well as text based theatre

ASSITEJ CYPRUS

ASSITEJ Cyprus was founded in March 2021 and it is an official member of ASSITEJ International, the international theatre organization for children and young audiences. ASSITEJ Cyprus already has 178 regular members: theatres, theatre groups, organizations and individuals who are professionally involved in theatre for children and young people. Individuals and groups who make theatre or have a love for theatre for young audiences are eligible to become associate members. Teenagers aged 14 to 18 could also become associate members.
